  17. <p>    After Gloria Williams' 15-year-old son was accused of
  18. taking part in the gang rape of a twelve-year-old girl, Los
  19. Angeles police paid her a visit. They discovered what deputy
  20. city attorney Robert Ferber described as "a museum for gang
  21. memorabilia." There were gang graffiti on a bedroom's walls.
  22. There were snapshots of Williams posing with teenagers making
  23. gang recognition signs. Another photo caught her youngest son,
  24. 8, pointing a pistol at the camera.
  25. </p>
  26. <p>    Result: Williams, 37, became the first parent arrested
  27. under the Street Terrorism Enforcement and Prevention Act, a
  28. six-month-old California law that compels parents to supervise
  29. and control their children or be charged with contributing to
  30. delinquency. Williams, free on $20,000 bail and denying guilt,
  31. faces a possible year in jail and $2,500 fine.
